Consulting Packages

Smart Start Package  ($300)

This package gives you a jumpstart on a successful nanny search whether you are using a placement agency or working on your own.  We’ll help you clearly define your needs, develop a detailed, descriptive family portfolio and pinpoint the types of candidates that best suit your family.

Family Needs Assessment  We don’t simply ask you a laundry list of questions about the hours you need, the responsibilities involved and the compensation offered.  We perform an in-depth evaluation of your job specifics, your expectations, your employer style, your parenting philosophy, and your ideal caregiving environment.  By fully examining your needs before you begin your search, we’re able to help you move forward with a clear understanding of what you’re looking for and what you want to avoid.

Family Portfolio Development    Through information you provide, we’ll develop a family portfolio that will provide candidates with a detailed look at the ins and out of your job, an introduction to your family and household and an overview of the type of nanny you’re looking for.  It will also serve as a candidate filter, an interview guide and a format for your nanny / family work agreement.  A well thought out family portfolio will put you a step ahead in the game, saving you time, energy and money throughout your search.

Desirable Candidate Profile  Using your family needs assessment, we’ll develop a guide sheet to help you pinpoint suitable caregivers.  Knowing the type of nanny you want, and the type you don’t, will help you quickly sort through candidates and focus in on the ones that fit your particular needs.

Search Support  ($500)

If you’ve ever hired a nanny before, you’ll immediately recognize the value of this package.  We’ll start by finding out exactly what you need, then we’ll develop a search strategy to fit your particular needs.  We’ll handle all details of the time- and energy-intensive initial stage of screening.  You’ll skip over the most difficult part of the process and go directly to interviewing matching candidates.

Candidate Screening  We’ll handle all the details of candidate screening.  We’ll respond to all interest phone calls and emails.  Filter out the candidates that don’t meet your requirements.  Provide matching candidates with your job profile or family portfolio, follow-up on their interest in your position and answer any additional questions they may have.

Candidate Portfolio Development  For each appropriate candidate, we’ll develop a candidate portfolio including detailed job / reference history, personal narrative (if available), reference letters (if available), confirmation of legal work status, educational degrees, CPR Certification, First Aid Certification, and verification of reference letter authorship.  NOTE: Reference contact information will only be given upon mutual interest between nanny and family.

Presentation of Candidates  We’ll present you with a portfolio on each candidate that meets your needs and that has a serious interest in your position.  You can then review the information and, if you’re interested in pursuing the candidate, contact her directly.  If you’re not interested in the candidate, we’ll contact her and let her know of your decision.

* 8 hours of phone follow-up support is included in this package.  Additional time will be billed separately.

Employment Follow-up   ($400 for one year)

Hiring the right nanny is the first step.  Developing and maintaining a successful, long-term nanny / family relationship is the second.  Our employment support package will help you do just that.

Customized A to Z Nanny Contract  We’ll work with both you and your nanny to develop a comprehensive work agreement tailored to your particular situation.  Our agreement ensures that both parties understand and agree to the many details involved in the employment relationship and hold the same standards and expectations for the caregiving environment.

Customized Performance Review  Regular reviews are an important element of a successful nanny / family relationship.  A review gives you the chance to officially thank your nanny for a job well done, to discuss areas where improvement is needed and to hear from your nanny about any problems or concerns she has.  Because your customized performance review is based on your work agreement, you can quickly and easily cover the issues that are important to you.

Follow-up  We’ll contact both you and your nanny at regular intervals throughout the year to ensure that things are going well.  If there is a problem, big or small, we’ll listen, offer solutions and if needed, provide mediation between you and your nanny.  Of course, you’re encouraged to contact us if an issue arises between check-ins.  Our goal is to facilitate communication between nanny and employer and help build a long-term, successful employment relationship.

* 5 hours of phone follow-up support is included in this package.  Additional time will be billed separately.

Screening

In-depth screening is the foundation of a quality hire but effective interviewing and referencing is a difficult process.  Because in-home childcare is such a unique job, it requires a unique approach to accurately assess a candidate’s competency.  Our extensive experience provides us with the expertise to do just that.  Our screening services can offer you a detailed, insightful look at your potential nanny so you can make an informed hiring decision.  All our screening services include a detailed narrative summary of our findings.  Our services include…

Customized Interview  Our phone interview is an in-depth examination of a nanny’s motivation, childcare philosophy, belief system, education, background, and personality.  By taking the time to develop a rapport with the candidate and then conducting the interview in a conversational-style, we’re able to move beyond the practiced answers often given and really explore how the nanny thinks and feels.  ($200)

Childcare References  We don’t use the standard 10 fill-in-the-blank questionnaire when talking with a reference.  Our in-depth conversation offers insight into the kind of person the candidate is, her childcare philosophy, her approach to discipline, how well she relates to children, and how easily she fits into different working environments.  ($100)

Non-Childcare Employment Reference  Past employment references, even those unrelated to childcare, provide valuable information on a candidate’s attitude, work habits and stability.  These references can’t tell you what kind of childcare provider she is but they can tell you what kind of employee she is.  An important factor in your hiring decision.  ($50)

Professional Reference  Clergy, volunteer supervisors, college professors; each offer a perspective on a candidate not usually seen by employment or personal references.  ($60)

Personal References  Friends and family are often overlooked as a reference because they have a personal rather than professional relationship with the candidate.  But in this profession, a candidate’s personal life matters.  Personal references often bring to light details that could be potential problems and need to be addressed before a hiring decision is made.  (i.e. “Oh yeah, she’s just broke up with her boyfriend and can’t stand living in the same town with him” regarding a nanny ready to take a job across the country).  ($75)

Background Checks  We will work with our investigative firm to customize a package to fit your potential nanny then obtain and submit a completed release of information.  Cost varies, depending upon checks ordered.

Nanny / Family Mediation

Our workshop Can We Talk? -  solving nanny / family problems through assertive communication is the most requested within the nanny community.  This is no coincidence.  Unresolved conflicts between parents and nannies are the number one reason nannies leave their jobs and parents fire their nannies.  Most of the time, these conflicts can be resolved before they become destructive to the nanny / family relationship.  .  But if no action is taken, tension builds, communication breaks down, assumptions are made and the nanny or parent chooses to end the relationship rather than deal with the increasingly difficult situation.

If you would like to effectively address the issues between you and your caregiver, please give us a call.  Our   unique insight into the nanny / family relationship can help you resolve the conflicts you face and strengthen your working relationship.    Mediation is billed in 30 minute increments at $60 per hour.
